Warriors, Chipolopolo clash: A potentially grinding battle is looming at Rufaro stadium this Sunday where the Warriors take on Zambia’s Chipopolo in the first leg of an African Nation’s Championship (Chan) qualifier. The feeling of brotherhood that exists between Zimbabwe and Zambia because of geographical closeness will take a back seat, with a fierce battle taking centre stage, when Warriors and Chipolopolo fight for a berth at the third edition of the African Nations Championship set for South Africa next year. Although the Chipolopolo head into the match with a psychological advantage having beaten the Warriors three times in the last eleven months, the Warriors reckon its pay back time for the Zambians, hence they will be driven by vengeance going into the encounter. The copper bullets are not known for playing well away from home, therefore the Warriors need to capitalise on that weakness and pound Chipolopolo into submission. Football Commentator Archie Mundava said there were some loose ends that were evident in the match against Mauritius which needs tying up. He believes there was poor communication in defence, no clarity on the roles of the defensive and offensive midfielders, while the strikers conversion rate was poor. Mundava said if these shortcomings are rectified, victory is there for the taking. The traditional home of football, Rufaro Stadium will host the first leg of the African Nation’s Championship Qualifier pitting Zimbabwe and Zambia tomorrow (Sunday).
