Was invited by my US friends that are passionate about health care -the Anti Alternative Medicine Group that mocks woo heads and those that do not take health care seriously. Sadly - this is what I sent. Now I feel saddened and ashamed. Ok peeps, This is the gig. Warning Rant Coming. In Queensland Australia we have a government that can and will do whatever it wants because it has 90% governing control due to election process. These politicians - the Premier of a small state of a population of 4.7 million people known as Campbell Newman (yes that is his name) makes AU 420,000.00 a year - more than Obama. He is about to destroy our health system by insisting that our SMO - Senior Medical Officers - Gifted and talented Consultants take a 30% pay cut (meanwhile he has given himself a 22% pay increase). On top of that these dedicated and clever men and women are dictated by KPIs, that compromise patient care because you can only spend so much time and money on someone dying. This mean longer hours and be relocated away from their families in remote and rural areas at a moments notice. It means that if these Consultants do not agreed to the draconian measures they will be replaced by overseas doctors at a cheaper price - that will be unable to teach future medical students at such a stellar commitment and passion. I love my nursing. I am passionate but this is going to kill our health care system. You know Dr Ian Frazer? This is his backyard and mine. My post is letting the whole world know of what is happening to such an amazing and dedicated health care system that is about to be decimated.
