Was it ever thus? In my current occupation as a mover of stuff in a sad and silly attempt to preserve some sort of sanity hereabouts, I just recently happened upon a piece I wrote way back in 1999, one in which I compare and contrast two very diverse entities by saying: Yeh, sure, of course -- every bit of the difference one can also immediately perceive between any of the many hydro-electric plants that service large metropolitan areas and a leper in a blue serge suit.
