Was reading an article about the war in Sudan today, and how alot of people are predicted to die from starvation. Alot of people over there admitted to eating leaves and grass.......thats pretty sad really, and I promised myself I would remember that next time i was say , having to buy a six pack of beer instead of a six pack of bourbon, to ask myself.... ..well Glenn, did you eat twigs and grass for dinner last night?... Sometimes things like this remind you, that really, we aint got it that bad, no matter what the circumstances.... Then a fellow employee and myself though an easy solution to the problem, would be to send over a few hundred thousand kangaroos ( hell, we have heaps over here to spare). That way, they would have a sufficient food source, that would likely reproduce and become stable. But on further consideration, we decided prehaps this would be a bad idea. For 2 main reasons. 1) Living on a diet of grass and leaves isnt really going to give you a great amount of energy. Ive chased kangaroos when I was drunk and felt like superman, and I still was no where near catching one. So I doubt a starving Sudanese person would have much luck. It would be almost like teasing them, with big juicy steaks hopping around everywhere that they simply cant catch...... and 2) Then we thought about what kangaroos eat...... Grass. And lots of it. when thats all they have left to eat, probably not a good idea to send in a few hundred thousand hopping australian lawn mowers. Thats when we realized, these ideas we have are probably the reason why we arent in charge of solving the problems of entire nations.
