Was standing in line at a local Walmart here in San Antonio when I met this gentleman. He noticed I was wearing my CIVPOL shirt and asked me about it. Told him where and when I served and he told me he was a retired MP from the US Army. He also told me he was a Vietnam vet. 70 years young he was. As I listened to his story up until his E8 retirement, I could see how much he had seen and how he appreciated life. It is my life long objective to always make it a point to thank a service member for their service. And I did this today. He thanked me for mine in return. It was not until I got into the parking lot that I realized that his generation in the next one going. To all those who have served and those that continue to serve, thank you from a truly appreciative American.
