Was talking about marking out the outside of dressage/schooling - TopicsExpress

Was talking about marking out the outside of dressage/schooling arenas the other day. Marking the edges and corners is fairly important if you want to work on your accuracy. You can do it in a variety of ways... The letters are very important! They have a proscribed position on the arena and you need to know where they go so that you can drive a dressage test. If you are only schooling you can use any sort of markers to make transitions or changes of direction at. When driving a dressage test transitions and changes of direction are made when the horses nose reaches the marker. This is different to riding where transitions etc are made when the riders shoulder is opposite the marker. It is more difficult to be accurate when driving because it is harder to see when you have reached the correct point. It is helpful to have a schooling buddy who can let you know when you are right :-)
