Was walking one of the dogs today and was by Hwy 44. Stood and watched and waved as fire truck after fire truck sped on by to fight these horrible fires. I remember only too well helping out at the Manton fire. My friend and I were supposed to be picking up some horses and the fire had jumped the creek. Their was a house in immediate danger so we all ended up with shovels putting dirt on the hot spots and keeping the fire from blowing up on that side. It was so so hot and I was scared to death. We were about 30 feet from flames and they were so high over head. You could hear trees and propane tanks blowing up. Never been so scared or hot. Yet these heroes head out to all these fires, knowing full well the conditions they are going to be in. Have to admit I was all choked up and it made me cry just watching these fire fighters going by today. Made them a sign to know we are sending love and prayers. Would be cool to line the highway for them. They saved our butts a couple years a go, and I will never forget how scary that fire was........
