Washington County 911; whats your emergency? Im an idiot; can you help? (Not really said, but REALLY wanted to!) (Its -30 degrees outside) My car is stuck in a snowbank and my car battery just died (*sob)... Where are you? Are you at an address, or on the road? Im stuck in front of the mailbox (I was delivering papers, and its 11:00 at night) out here in the middle of nowhere. Whats the address where you are? Um - I cant see it. (Even with my window rolled down, and I cant get the door open to get closer. Id already crawled over the console and the gear shifter twice now, and I think Im permanently stuck in here now. *sob) Ok. Go back to your car; thats the safest and warmest place for you to be. Yes, Im in my car. OK - it looks like youre at (and she read the address off - wow! GPS tracking systems are AWESOME!) does that sound right? Yes, it does Good; Ill get someone there as quickly as possible (she says as shes sounding somewhat panicky herself.) 10 minutes later, the police officer shows up, opens my cars passenger door and says, with a HUGE grin on his face, Well HELLO! And how are you doing tonight? Whats going on here??? Thanking Gaia for Charles, the officer who came to my rescue AND made me laugh hysterically during a time when I was doing my best to not lose it and break down and cry uncontrollably before prying me out of my car (had to climb over the console AND 450 newspapers!) to get me into the back of the police squad where I could, in his words, keep warm and not freeze my ass off! Well, now I cant say Ive never been inside a police car, can I? NOT something I had on my bucket list, Ill tell you... Also thanking, immensely, the wonderful man who came from the towing company and gave my car a jump start so that I could get through the rest of my route. Trust me, I will NEVER again shut my car off while shoveling myself out of a snowbank, regardless that I was having no trouble starting the car in these frigid temperatures! Its been such a fun-filled weekend ;)
