GEORGE, Utah – Washington County schools are on lockdown as a precaution as officers search for an armed suspect accused of robbing a bank, kidnapping two women and leading police on a chase through the area. Officials said buses for Fossil Ridge Intermediate, Pine View High, Pine View Middle and Horizon Elementary schools will not be going out to bring children home until the situation is cleared. School officials said parents should not go to pick up their children either. Students are safe inside the schools and will be released when officers give the “all clear.” The Washington County School District posted information on the lockdown on its website. Due to a bank robbery several schools are on lockdown in the Pine View/Washington Fields area. The suspect is still at large. Buses will be delayed and students will not be released until the local Police Department has given direction to release students. The incident did not happen in close proximity to any of the schools. All students are safe. St. George officers are asking residents from Washington Fields Rd. to 2000 S. and the Washington Deseret industrial area to 1450 E. to stay inside and lock all doors until further notice. Police said the armed suspect is on the run in the area. Authorities said to call 911 immediately if you see the suspect in the photo.
