Washington was not a military genius, but he was trustworthy. - TopicsExpress

Washington was not a military genius, but he was trustworthy. That word gets over used, so it seems not to be important. But Washington not only retired from the Army once the Revolutionary War was over... but also decided that two terms as the President was enough. There is no doubt he could have been elected again, and again, until he died in office. That might have been good for him, but wouldnt have been good for the country he was trying to help create. Washington was named the Commander of the Continential Army - before there was one. When he arrived at Boston there were only New England Militias surrounding the city. He created the Continential Army. When Washington was elected President under the new Constitution, there really was no Federal Government, but he helped create that also. An amazing man.
