Watch and Act Issued For: Killawarra, Wangandary, Waldara, Wangaratta South Fire Origin: LAKE ROWAN Incident Name: LAKE ROWAN Issued: 16/12/14 7:58 PM This is a Watch and Act message issued by Country Fire Authority for Killawarra, Wangandary, Waldara, Wangaratta South. There is a large 3000 sized bushfire travelling fast in a easterly direction from the western edges of the Warby Range State Forest into the Warby Ranges. This bushfire is currently not yet under control. The fire could impact the areas of Killawarra, South Wangaratta and Wangandery any time from 8.30 PM. Dont wait, leaving now is the safest option - conditions may change and get worse very quickly. Emergency Services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay. Travel to; - Relief Centre at Barr Reserve, Wangaratta. - The home of family or friends that is away from the warning area. - Animal Relief Centre has been set up at the Wangaratta Showgrounds. When driving, slow down and turn on your headlights; smoke will make it difficult to see. The next update is expected by 16/12/14 11:45 PM or as the situation changes. Safety Information: Remember to take your prescriptions and medication, photo ID, bottles of water, your mobile phone and charger and consider what you will do with your pets. If you have time, check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions. Contact a family member or friend to tell them what you plan to do.
