Watch in HD and in a dark place for best viewing! In this video, it shows a lightning storm/thunderstorm light up the skies over D.L. Bliss State Park, right at our campsites! This was during our annual family camping trip here. The forecast called for thunderstorm chances the whole time we were here (July 14-17, 2014). It so happens that it was this time, July 16th at night, when we finally saw some thunderstorms and lightning! It was pretty neat since just last year, during our family camp at Union Valley Reservoir (Wench Creek Campground), we also experienced a lightning storm. It was more intense than this years. We even saw quite a few lightning bolts itself and a few streaking across the sky. This years it was more subtle and only flashes were seen beyond the trees. However, being there in person was always an amazing experience... A quiet night in the middle of the forest, with family around, with occasional flashes of lighting above, and with distant, subtle thunder heard...it was a priceless, surreal feeling and experience! The lightning had died down as evening progressed. More thunderstorms were forecast to occur in the region the next day or 2 as more moisture and atmospheric instability settles in. Too bad we were leaving the very next day. At least I still got a nice taste of summer storms over the Sierra Nevada! *Summary of our camping trip at D.L. Bliss State Park: Me and my familys annual camping trip this year was at D.L. Bliss State Park. It is located on the western shore of Lake Tahoe just north of Emerald Bay. Our camping trip was from July 14-17, 2014. We had enjoyed our stay, despite the strict rules and regulations. We had hiked along the Rubicon Trail, enjoyed the beach life at Lester Beach and went to the city of Tahoe. We had so much food and BBQ! We had a wonderful time together exploring and enjoying the area around Lake Tahoe and D.L. Bliss State Park.
