Nevertheless, watch what happens when the passenger of the vehicle retrieves a knife from the vehicle. The armed citizen immediately retreats to create some space so he has time to draw his firearm. What I want you to focus on is his movement - he starts moving backwards and quickly abandons this inadequate, risky form of motion and transitions into lateral movement, and finally forward movement, both of which are much more efficient and much more effective at creating space.
