Watch this inspirational video of a father who just happens to be the caregiver for his son. As a caregiver I know first hand that it takes someone special to do the hard work of a caregiver. Some people have a calling on their life to minister, some are called to teach, but only a few are called to do the work we do daily. Rather its for family or a total stranger, we work hard cause we love caring for those who need it the most. We are the the backbones for the helpless also the shoulders to cry on. Many are chosen and fail, but a dedicated caretaker goes the extra mile to make everything ok. Until you walk in the shoes of a caregiver, licensed or certified nurses aide, personal care assistant, or home health aide shoes you have no idea our importance. We are the last line of defense for someone you love and care for, or sadly for the ones people left alone to past on. I had someone tell me home care providers need to seek other employment and leave healthcare to those who went to school for it. My response was simple my name is Gerald Grooms, and Im a home care provider who now relies on a home care assistant. In fact the exact same person I take care of full-time now takes care of me temporarily. When we give our all to our consumers, we get thanks back from them any way possible by being a blessing right back to us. Thats what makes a professional caregivers day...Appreciation! So when the next time someone ask you why are you so passionate about being the low man or woman of the totem pole respond back with this... I am who I am, a man or woman who loves his or her job.
