Watched The Normal Heart last night. It was a little disappointing. They put all the best jokes right in the trailer. After I thought Well _theres_ 2 hours of my life and 146 friends Ill never get back Upside: The first movie I have ever seen with Julia Roberts where I never once felt in danger of my head being swallowed by her gaping maw. Like all people, shes best when shes suffering. On a more serious note, Mark Ruffalo, Jim Parsons, Matt Bomer, the whole cast was excellent even amid the directionless direction of Ryan Murphy. He was fine with the small moments but had no big picture. Just because you can decorate a room doesnt mean you should architect a house. Overall, I didnt need to see it. Ive spend so long trying to repair the damage done to me from that era, letting go of the misanthropy and outrage and hatred, only to be reminded that to do so is to allow myself to sink into denial. Because the outrage and misanthropy and the hate are completely valid and human beings are just vermin worthy of extermination. Other than that, i feel pretty darn cheerful. Its a nice day out. Im not dead. Good stuff.
