Watched an interview with very talented and successful film/TV - TopicsExpress

Watched an interview with very talented and successful film/TV producer Jerry Bruckheimer on PBS who said that finding your gift/talent given by God early in life and pursuing it solves a lot of ills. A lot of people are doing what they are not good at and a lot more are unhappy at what they are doing. Is this where our schools fail us? Emphasis is put on academics and skill development, but how do our schools work to help students find their mission, their innate talents and abilities, especially in our high schools. In my professional life I taught junior high, high school and community college as well as four-year students. They all search for who they are and where they fit in still today. Helping students find their passion should be first on the academic list. I always promoted this but found very few who listened. Maybe this has something to do with the drop-out rate.
