Watching 7.30 Report item re assylum seekers who had been turned back and are claiming Australian official deliberately pushed their hands onto hot engine pipes as a punishment. What impressed me about these people was that they had made their way from Sudan in African Continent to Indonesia before getting on a boat to try and reach Australia. Just check out the map and think about the difficulties of this journey. I think these people must be very resourceful. Those interviewed seemed to be reasonable people who would very likely be an asset to our country. It is still my view that Australia should have a well staffed assessment centre in Indonesia that ensures people can be reviewed and genuine refugees be given safe transport to Australia. The current stand-off is not good.
