Watching CNN today USMC General Kennedy said that what he needs most of all are Amphibious Assault Vehicles. He claims that they are the Swiss Army knife that he needs. The main issue he says is ground logistics. With the AAV assets he can get to the areas that other vehicles cant go. They can climb over the debris to get food, water, medicine and other material to those most in need. My son in Okinawa just happens to be an AAV driver and has be ordered to deploy in the aid of our friends in the Philippines. Now this is the way America should be. Spending our money in the help of other humans that cant help themselves. What always amazes me is the overall capabilities of our military. They have basically been able to do more in such a short period of time. Bring airports back up and close to 24 hour operations in just two days is an incredible accomplishment under those conditions. God bless all of those affected by this storm and look after our Military Folks while the support the recovery efforts there.
