Watching King Arthur, the Clive Owen, Ionn Griffud, Kiera Knightly - TopicsExpress

Watching King Arthur, the Clive Owen, Ionn Griffud, Kiera Knightly version. Fun little re-interpretation of the oft-told tale. Problem, however... its set near the end of the Roman Empire (which would put it in the 300s-400s.) The Romans ride horses at the beginning and the end of the movie and shoot arrows from horseback while supporting themselves in the saddles with stirrups. It does not take too much research to find that stirrups were invented by the Mongols and introduced to the world in the 1200s - 900 years later! Gah! I can do some levels of a suspension of disbelief, but the movie starts with the assertion that historians agree that the King Arthur legend was based on this Roman Arturus (or something). . . if youre going to do that, youd better get some basics right, too.
