Watching my daughter today under the sun at the Klinik Kesihatan - TopicsExpress

Watching my daughter today under the sun at the Klinik Kesihatan while waiting for my wife gave me one of my first private moments alone with her since she was born. She weighs almost nothing, and hardly moved, just shifting her head or opening her mouth every once in a while. It is almost like the world faded away for those few minutes, not the entire world, just the fake world, for lack of a better word. Gone was the fast-paced, ever-evolving, technocentric world, and I remembered what it felt like when I was a boy growing up in the 70s. Nostalgic but very real. Thats why people pay money to visit places with old world charm... and I found it sitting in the sun outside of a government health clinic, holding my new daughter. It is really hard to describe what growing up in the 70s and 80s was like, before the advent of computers, smart phones and (crazy bad) traffic jams. Then I saw this painting shared by my friend, and it dawned on me, what I want to describe, Van Gogh had already painted on canvas without a single word. It looks so much like the landscape where I grew up, with lots of rubber trees, hot blue skies, birds and paths to explore. I wish upon my children the kind of childhood which they will remember into their old age, which they will one day also look back and remember with fondness and warmth in their hearts. It is the very least I can do as a father. :) https://facebook/146441978754953/photos/a.194601230605694.50200.146441978754953/785026141563197/?type=1&theater
