Watching my news feed. Friends from around the country marching in solidarity and comradeship with Ferguson. Sadly, I cannot be there in body but know that I am in spirit and in love. Understand that these are not marches to condemn anyone or absolve anyone. These are not anti-police rallies (as has been suggested by some media personalities). This is the voice of generations taking a moment to express a deep need in our country to deal with the systemic racism that invades our society. When the concerns of a portion of our population are dismissed as a non-issue by the privileged, the avenue of communicating those concerns will change until their needs are met. Truth is, we can all Monday Morning Quarterback the events that happened. We may never know the full facts. What we do know is this... People are hurting and we must, as a society, do what we can to figure out a way to move forward from this in love. We must find a way to heal our nation and to bridge the gap caused by a system that is stacked for or against someone based on skin color. I cant pretend to know what it is like to live in a black body. I cant pretend to feel their pain, their anger, or their frustration. I can only say that my friends and family who live every single day of their lives under the burden of their skin color are hurting right now and it is my duty to them to help mend what is causing that.
