Watching the Little League World Series on ESPN brings back some - TopicsExpress

Watching the Little League World Series on ESPN brings back some of my greatest childhood memories including this gem. In 1993, while playing for Lawrenceville, GA and a chance to move on to the state tournament for the 1st time ever, we were losing 9-8 with 2 outs and bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th (of an 8 inning game) against our biggest rival, South Gwinnett (our little league equivalent of the New York Yankees at the time...they always won championships). I somehow managed to get a 2 strike single up the middle to plate 2 runs. Including the eventual winning run. Kyle Hudlow (former pitcher for Auburn University) came on to shut down South Gwinnett in the top of the 8th to give us the victory. The win put us in the drivers seat to the championship game and eventual trip to our 1st State Tournament in Valdosta, GA.
