Watching this from the safety of my sofa allows me to see a young man, neatly dressed, whos checking his pocket for his wallet and quickly realizes hes left it on the seat in his car. In his haste to cooperate with the police officer he quickly reaches into the car to retrieve it. If Id been the officer, having no information about whether this person was dangerous, would my instinct have been to shoot?? Honest answer, I dont know. Can anyone informed in law enforcement training tell me what Im looking at here?? He asked the man to get his license!!!!! If I was the civilian reaching to get the license hed just asked me to get, would he have shot a 54 blonde woman?? Both men were nervous about the interaction needlessly, how do we fix this? Also not for the faint of heart, no blood but really hard to watch a young person get shot for a seatbelt violation.
