Watching this madness in Ferguson, MO. Its disturbing to hear - TopicsExpress

Watching this madness in Ferguson, MO. Its disturbing to hear both sides go back and forth. Some claiming murder, others praising a death. Its just disgusting. I know Ill upset some people by saying this, but what are people protesting? The murder of an unarmed 18 year old kid? How do we know? All that is known is that Michael Brown is dead. That in itself is a horrible, tragic fact... but nearly the only fact that has been reported. Did Officer Darren Wilson wake up that morning and say to himself, You know what? I want to kill a black boy today? Unlikely, but maybe. Did Officer Wilson shoot Brown out of self defense? Far more likely, but maybe not. The fact is that we do not know. Everything right now is speculation. So, I ask, What are they protesting? Speculation. Thats what. And it is absolutely ridiculous. People need to calm down and wait for the facts to be revealed. If at that time its found that Wilson is guilty and he isnt charged, or is let off with a slap on the wrist, then protest. Ill join you. But nothing good is coming from condemning an officer before the facts are known. I understand and sympathize with the fact that the black community in large has to deal with far more than me when it comes to race. I dont feel like Im watched when I enter a store. As a kid I never had think about what running with my hands in my pockets could lead to. It isnt just or fair to live with things like that on your shoulders. However, there is no excuse for expressing that stress by calling for the murder of an untried person. I have always believed, and will continue to believe, that police are the good guys. Yes, there are good cops and there are bad cops. But until its proven otherwise, Ill go with the assumption that Officer Wilson is one of the good guys and was forced to do something no good cop wants to do. Please. Just wait for the facts to come out. A young mans life is over and that is horrible. Lets not compound the tragedy by condemning a man who has sworn to protect his city before he is proven guilty.
