Water Saving Measures (Non-Domestic) 1. Repair leaks promptly • Read your water meters regularly and monitor your water consumption closely to detect any leaks and abnormally high consumption. • Repair all leaks and faulty water fittings promptly. 2. Watering of plants • Irrigate or water plants only when necessary and do so in the early morning or late evening (before 7am or after 7pm) to minimise evaporation losses. • Water plants with a watering can instead of a running hose. 3. Car Washing • Wash cars only when necessary. • Wash cars using a bucket instead of a running hose. 4. Operation of water features and fountains • Minimise or avoid operation of water features and fountains wherever possible to minimise/prevent evaporation and drift losses. 5 Use of high pressure jet/hoses for washing & cleaning of exterior of buildings • Carry out washing activities only when necessary. • Minimise the use of high pressure jet/hose for washing. Use mop instead. • Supervise washing activities closely to ensure that there is no water wastage. 6 Setting of Air – Con in buildings • Check cooling towers regularly to prevent overflow and splashing. Avoid operating water cooled air-conditioning systems at temperatures below 24°C.
