Here, in the Minneapolis area, we have diverse weather conditions throughout the year, sometimes very hot and sometimes very cold. Does this mean we only need to drink water in the hot season? – Absolutely not. Water affects the connective tissues in your spine. If your body is not adequately hydrated it can affect your ligaments. They become less flexible, weaker and have less ability to hold the adjustment. Of course this results in more trips to the chiropractor. If you want to get the best results from chiropractic care, proper hydration is crucial. And when we say water, we mean just that. Caffeinated drinks, sodas and juices are not what the body needs for hydration. Just how much water should you drink? A good rule of thumb is to take your body weight, divide by two and that is how many ounces of water should be consumed. For instance, a 150 pound person would need approximately 75 ounces of good quality water a day. Weight Loss Obesity is a big factor in our society. Of course a proper diet is essential, but many people do not realize that consuming adequate amounts of water is also very important for weight loss. A well-hydrated body will burn more calories. If you want to burn more calories, drink more water.
