Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council has published a report Fear of Crime in Waterloo Region and Beyond. The survey found fear of crime is declining among participants, and social trust remains higher than provincial and national figures. The highlights is on the positive impact of the collaborative efforts in the Sunnydale community Its mostly done through grassroots services ... street by street, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, having services decentralized, said Christiane Sadeler, executive director of the Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council. All of these things put together creates stronger, healthier neighbourhoods. In the last year, Social Planning Council of KW and Focus for Ethnic Women have hosted conversations about the meaning of neighbourhood connections through Festival of Neighbourhoods and Healthy Lifestyles Program in Sunnydale Community Centre. The Women Building Community project focused on the importance of peer supports in integration of immigrant women into their community.
