Way Back Wednesday:April 8th 2006 Hedrick, Iowa EPW(Impact Pro Wrestling spinoff) Featuring Austin Aries. Review written by Brianphoenix Both IPW and EPW rocked the Hedrick Colosseum last night with its best show of 2006. The evening opened with the first round of the draft for the May 13th battle for South East, Iowa. Tension was in the air when Spooner and Shettler took the stage with their respective EPW and IPW talent in tow. Troy Peterson took the mike to officiate the draft. After some heated words, Troy reminded the crowd that due to Torturous Tony Slys loss to Gage Octane at the last show, IPW would get the first draft pick. Shettler: 1: Gage Octane 2: TS Aggressor 3: Matty Fitness 4: Mic Meyhem (just to screw with EPW) 5: Havyk Spooner: 1: Johnny Fitness 2: Latin Skillz Montoya X 3: AJ Smooth 4: Max Force 5: Torturous Tony Sly For the first match of the night Big Daddy Hoofer made his return to Iowa in a match against Mr. Destiny. After some intense back and forth action, Destiny was able to hit his finisher and put Hoofer away. Buck Albright and Devin Carter were up next, and although Devin probably could have pinned himself after all the falling down he did, Buck was able to come up with the victory. Chance Cordova, who was present at ring side to watch the match, grabbed a mic and had a few words with Carter. Cordova announced that the fans of Hedrick did not deserve the kind of talent that people like him brought to their town and went on to say that the people of Hedrick all suck. It seems that Cordova and Carter may have worked out their differences. Up next, we were treated to Latin Thunder vs. Matty Fitness. Matty was able to pull out a hard fought victory. Mid way through the evening Spooner brought Destiny out from the back to announce that he would be his Wild Card pick for the May 13th battle for South East Iowa. Shettler had some bad news for him, however, and showed Spooner a signed contract placing Destiny in the IPW corner for May 13th. Definitely dont want to miss this confrontation! Chance Cordova vs. The Freak w/ Underdog was next. Although Chance got an assist from Devin Carter, The Freak was able to pull out a victory. The team of Max Force and Torturous Tony Sly were set in action against the team of Gage Octane and TS Aggressor. Despite a double suplex onto a pile of chairs reminiscent of the Hedrick Street Fight a few months back, the team of Max Force and Torturous Tony Sly was able to steal a victory. AND THE MAIN EVENT!! EPW Champion Latin Skillz Montoya X, accompanied to the ring by the unified IPW and EPW Tag Team Champions S & M vs. ROH and TNA star Austin Aries. This match had to be seen to be believed. Montoya X was able to pick up what may be his biggest victory for a while to come with an assist from Mic Meyhem and AJ Smooth. For you EPW haters out there, rest assured that S & M got what you would call What they deserved when TS Aggressor and Gage Octane ran in and cleaned house. TS grabbed AJ Smooth and scoop slammed him to the mat and Austin Aries delivered a beautiful 450 splash. All in all, this was a night to remember, but rest assured, it doesnt matter if you were in attendance or missed the extreme action in Hedrick, you wont want to miss the explosive action when Team IPW and Team EPW collide in a battle that may change South East Iowa forever. May 13th... BE THERE
