Way back in 1979 or 80 my buddy John Selkirk and myself made these logos out of melamine panels and, with the permission of Stan Black president of the ACR Railway, Ted Ellis and I installed these on 6 ACR railroad cars. Two Gons, two boxcars and two chip cars were done as a promotion for the multi region NMRA convention our LSASL model railroad club was hosting. All the cars were routed all over the various NMRA districts involved and we got super advertisement from this stunt. The bear track symbol was actually inspired by the ACR passenger service In The Tracks of The Black Bear which was painted on all their passenger equipment. I wonder what would be happening here if we could get the same type of support and cooperation from the E & N. My best guess it would have cost the model railway club about $5,000.00 a car to do this for a $30,000.00 total outlay, under the present bunch of losers.
