Way back in 1996 I met the author and performance artist, Michele Serros, at CSU Long Beach. She was a visiting artist and I was a wide-eyed student in the Summer Arts program. We stayed in touch over the years and she continued to be a major influence in the way I thought about writing, career, and what it means to be an artist. She is a tireless author who has worked hard for so many communities over so many years and has influenced so many of us. Over a year ago she was given the news that she has cancer (I wont even attempt to pronounce the type).
