Way before the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the NFL were established, the day became an official holiday thanks to President Abraham Lincoln. In an 1863 proclamation, Lincoln stated that Thanksgiving would be observed on the fourth Thursday in November. Later Franklin D. Roosevelt moved the holiday to the third Thursday of November.Thanksgiving is a time when the world gets to see just how blessed and how workable the Christian system is. The emphasis is not on giving or buying, but on being thankful and expressing that appreciation to God and to one another. Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds. Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever!!!
