Waynesboro Woman Charged with Federal Program Fraud A former employee at the Wayne County Schools is accused of stealing about $135,000 from the district. Kayla Luna, 47 of Waynesboro, has been charged with federal program fraud. Prosecutors said between July 2008 and January 2013, Luna converted goods and gift cards purchased at Wal-Mart stores to purchase items for someone other than the school system. This case is yet another example of cooperation between federal and state law enforcement agencies to pursue fraud allegations and prosecute an individual responsible for helping herself to funding that was intended for Wayne County schools and students, US Attorney David Rivera said. If convicted, Luna could face up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and forfeiture of $135,000. *Source WSMV and US District Court
