We Did IT! It is with great pride and happiness that I inform - TopicsExpress

We Did IT! It is with great pride and happiness that I inform the people and musicians of Lawrence that after a 4 year absence, Hip-Hop & Reggaeton will finally be able to take the stage at the Semana Hispana. We did it! I would also like to take this time to clear a few things up. My intention was never to make the Semana Hispana committee look bad or give them a bad reputation, especially that the whole Semana Hispana committee was not involved in this miscommunication or issue at hand. It was my self and the Stage coordinator/ Vice President Juanita Saldana who had a difference of opinions; this is the classic case of “One bad apple”… and the irony of the situation is that this is the same way that our music was judged in the first place. In Fact I would like to salute the Semana Hispana committee in helping right this wrong, with a special recognition to Marisa Melendez and President Arnaldo Davila for stepping up and helping mediate the whole situation like true leaders. I would also like to thank the artist who stepped up to support this cause from both Hip-Hop & Reggaeton genres without your help this would not be possible. Also to the new media outlets who ran the stories Tom Duggan and my Valley Patriot Family (Who were the first to break the story); Alberto & Dalia at Rumbo and Lauren DiTullio the Eagle-Tribune. This is what Community is about. Having differences and working thru them to find common ground. I am Proud to be a Lawrencian. See you all at the Semana Hispana 2014 let’s make it a great one this year.
