‘We Need MASLOC To Rescue Our People’ – DCE Cries Hon. Solomon Kuyon, Krachi Nchimuru-Chinderi, DCE Story: Witty K. Adusu In a quest to go by the President Mahama’s vision to bridge the wide-gap between the rich and the poor in Ghanaian society, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Nchimuru-Chinderi District in the Northern Volta, Hon. Solomon Kuyon, has appealed to the MASLOC to establish an office in his area to serve the people there. It was noted that the poor people of Chinderi district whose only economic activity in the area is farming, need financial support to enable them expand their farming and creating other businesses. In an interview with The Republic, the DCE explained that though, the people are hardworking; they are financially handicapped when it come to expanding of their farms to be able to produce more. With little push from MASLOC in the area, according to the DCE, the farmers could achieve bumper harvest from their expanded farms to feed most urban markets with tubers of yam and other crops, he stated. Mr. Solomon Kuyon was also enthused to see Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) send about four (4) tractors to start rigorous farming in the Nchimuru-Chinderi. This he said, ‘would bring more jobs to his people. In addition, Mr. Kuyon said there are others who would like to access the MASLOC loans to go into buy and sell businesses; and this could serve as a tool to reducing the unemployment situation among the youth in the district. This paper noted that some of the women in the district are engaged in table-tops and fish mongering business; and Hon. Kuyon observes that with the MASLOC loans the people can improve their businesses. As a politician, the DCE said, he does not want to chart the path of some MMDCEs, but to continue to serve his people, by creating jobs and giving them good human relation. He stated that as part of his short-term plans, the Assembly is training some qualified indigenes that are enrolled in some of the College of Educations in the country, to take up teaching appointments in the district’s vacant schools. In view of that, he also wants to build more schools, especially in areas where there are no schools and the children have to travel far to school. “With all this, I want to make the district look attractive like other urban areas”, he prayed. On this premise, The Republic noted that the District’s Education Directorate recruiting through interview some qualified SHS students to take up teaching appointment in the vacant primary schools. Although Chinderi is a hinterland, it is a move to gradually raise the standard of education to at least catch up with other places. This is because the DCE was not enthused with the current educational standard in his area, he lamented; adding, he said the area is expecting one of the 200 secondary schools the President promised. Also, there is Ghana-Korea collaboration to drill 23 boreholes, 18 by the Koreans and 5 by the Assembly. More of the boreholes are needed in areas where the taps are broken down and other places where the people hardly get water. The world vision, the DCE said is helping in its small way to ensure water flows to some of these areas where the people are faced with water problem. So by 2014 the problems of water would be over, he assured. In another development, Hon. Kuyon disclosed that President Mahama has promised Chinderi a hospital in order to reduce the burden of traveling long distances to access hospital facility. Records and information show that the people of Nchimuru-Chinderi are majority clients of NHIS, he boosted. But, some of the clinics with handful personnel lack the facilities to run as a clinic, to attend to the patients.
