We San Franciscans tend to be inwardly focused when it comes to our housing crisis, but this is a regional challenge. Housing prices are spiking all over, and our housing and job markets are interconnected. San Francisco needs to increase housing production, but so does Oakland (and other places as well). Oakland, in particular, has the capacity to add housing, has great transit access, and with San Francisco, is at the core of our region. Oakland and San Francisco are sister cities, and we need to work together to meet our regional housing and transit challenges.
