We (The Indians) should be ashamed. This shocking video of a mob mercilessly beating three foreign nationals of African origin - in the heart of the nations capital is deeply disturbing. Reports suggest that the 3 men allegedly passed lewd comments at a woman in a metro train, for which she raised an alarm while disembarking at Rajiv Chowk station . Soon a mob gathered and they started brutally attacking the three men, while raising patriotic slogans like Vande Mataram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai to incite more violence. And surprisingly, all this while, the Delhi Police preferred to remain a mute spectator. While the men were taken to hospital following the injuries inflicted on them by the mob, the woman is yet to register an FIR to report the incident. For long we have been known to be discriminatory to people of colour and this incident gives us another reason to be ashamed as a country. Even if this episode was not racially motivated as some may argue, this is no way to treat people. We condemn the barbaric acts but what about incidents like this?
