FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES... And with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." Yes, our founding fathers did recognize that there would come a day of Divine judgement on their efforts to rightly govern a nation. According to our first president, this was "impossible... without God and the Bible". May the 237-year history of our free and, in many respects, world-leading nation be a testimony to their attempts of reverence and spiritual circumspection, which, granted, were sometimes failing, but nonetheless very present at moments such as when these words were penned. President Obama, members of Congress, I pray that you would be so disposed to the governance of your nation. I pray that you would be so convicted and more. Righteousness, even in the smallest degrees, exalts a nation.
