We Won!!!!!.... Well not exactly :) I wanted to give you an update on the Chase Grant competition we competed in. We came up short, but walked away with some much needed insight and clarity on a few key points that I want to share & to personally begin acting upon. The gift of failure is feedback, & the feedback gained from the autopsy of any failure contains the secret to your success if you will learn from it, and act upon it. Here is what I learned: #1 You cannot drink from a well that you have not dug… meaning you develop & foster relationships & friendships before you need them, everything else is fool’s gold and self-serving. I am guilty of being busy, & forgot the secret of living a contented life is the quality of the relationships, not the quantity or casualness of our brief interactions… For all of you that I have not communicated with before now, please accept my sincerest apologies and extended hand in friendship. #2 You develop relationships with people by serving them, not by posting, & that is one of the misconceptions and false representations of social media & marketing today. It insinuates that companies can actually develop relationships with people & that’s just not possible or even true. People connect with people, one on one & in the age were technology is trying to be all & rule all, if you can remember how to hug, to kiss, & to say I love you or even I am thinking about you, then we can close the gap that these technologists are trying to build between us. I am so grateful for this experience & what it has taught me because I feel that I receive a much greater benefit than the $250K prize being offered. My corporate & personal initiatives will be executed & yes the grant would have made a difference, however, as those of you who know me best will be able to attest, the clarity that came as a result of this exercise has a lot more value to me than the money.
