We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about. There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will. (Epictetus) My personal philosophy of life is akin to that of Epictetus above. I refuse to waste one ounce of worry on anything over which I have absolutely no control. I prefer to use that energy in more constructive ways. Pithy Point: Amount vs. Number (Use number when you can count the items; otherwise, use amount.) Error in print I recently read: . . . that would have increased the amount of seats for northern states. Corrected: . . . the NUMBER of seats for northern states.
