We all finally got enrolled successfully last week (Allens was not going through for some reason), Maryland Health Connection had not been responding to my insurance broker until I complained about it on their Facebook page.... (they actually apologized to my insurance broker) ... I already took my son for his physical and dental cleaning. The most affordable plans are the Bronze plans for people who dont go to the doctor often and dont need a lot of prescriptions regularly filled. My son qualified for MCHP insurance, we pay a copay for it, but it is great insurance so far, he got to keep his doctor on that insurance, not his dentist though (dentists have to be participants in the Maryland Healthy Smiles Program), but the dentist they chose for my son was great (I looked at reviews online, didnt see anything negative about the dentist, so I thought Id give it a try, the dentist was great). Make a day of it at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore and go out and do something afterward if you havent enrolled already, they are having an enrollment fair Sat. at the Baltimore Convention Center, 9AM-4PM, rooms 318-320, bring your necessary paperwork. They said on the radio that if you at least start to enroll by March 31st, you will have some extra time to finish enrolling before any penalty fees start accruing, and the penalty fees become huge the longer you dont have insurance (we saw the computer screen when we were getting our taxes done, we saw the penalty fee thats not in effect yet, and it was several thousand dollars for a year of not having insurance!)... To be honest, it was a terribly frustrating experience, attempting to do it online when the site was all buggy, and them not responding to the approved insurance broker, I think enrolling directly w/Maryland Health Connection for Marylanders is probably the easiest way to enroll successfully. So giddy on over to the enrollment fair this weekend if you havent enrolled already... Good Health to Everyone!
