We all know and have come across good samaritans in our lives. Often, they are unsung, and I feel we should talk about them and their work so that more people get inspired. I am taking the liberty to start this series/thread with this post :) Id like to introduce you to four girls who are part of this group - Dimple, Vidita, Poonam and Anushka. Ive known them for about 7-8 years now. When I had first met them as teenagers, they had shared with me a quiet initiative they were practising then - Whenever they stepped out of their houses, they made it a habit to carry an empty bag in their handbag. This was their litter bag. They used to pick up litter that they spotted on the road and put them in this bag - all this as a matter of duty, without rebuking anyone or expecting praise from any quarter. :) I happened to meet two of them yesterday, and asked them about the progress of their initiative, and they said, Now people dont litter in our areas. In fact, when they see us, they automatically pick up any litter they find and put them in the bin. I thought that was amazing... that a job quietly and conscientiously done can have that kind of an impact. Just felt like sharing it here. :)
