We all like a little good news, right? New unemployment claims fell 60,000 below expectations, suggesting that Augusts disappointing jobs numbers will be revised upwards. If 68,000 jobs are added, that would extend the streak of six months of over 200,000 jobs added—the longest such streak since 1997. In other news, the Dow hit another record high today. 17,279. Crazy. Last time I looked, it was around 16,000. Up 114% in the last five years. The S&P 500 is up 141% over the last five years. Kind of amazing.
