We also worked on the canter in the arena. He is very good at cantering on verbal command with very little need for leg. I started by training him to canter when he sees the orange cone in the round pen on the ground. Then I incorporated the orange cone in the riding arena. I have repeated a pattern where I ask him to canter going up a line on a hill. He knows what to expect I ask and he goes right into it now. He also enjoys cantering very much! His canter is also very comfortable. And he comes right back to me. Soon I will change the distance and location and also add circles in time.
