We are SO proud to have adopted Little Snake River Valley High School RATTLERS this week. They will pass the torch to our next HIGHWAY HIGH SCHOOL.... LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL Tigers of Lamar, Missouri!!!!! Nominated by: Kim O Sullivan Our team here in Lamar Missouri, The Lamar Tigers Brotherhood of Lamar should not only be nominated, but selected. Due to their dedication, hard work and inspiration to our community! The major employer closed in our town, and most of our community had to find employment elsewhere. We became a bedroom community which made us only only feel disconnected, but discouraged. Our head football coach Scott Bailey is a Lamar native and felt called to come back hometown to lead our team and create hope in our community. After a few years of struggling (one year with zero wins), the program began to take shape The team has won the Class 2 State Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013. He was named Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Coach of the year for 2013 out of all the coaches at every class level in the state. Our current team has some huge shoes to fill, and they are currently doing just that with a 2-0 record and commanding performances in the first two games of the season. Why do we deserve this? Our football team has united our entire community, and we are no longer a bedroom town with no hope. The team has personally taught the town that by dedication, daily hard work (WIN Today...a motto of the team), faith and Brotherhood that all things are possible. They have given me courage to follow the dreams placed in my heart. They have been an inspiration to me personally, but to our other athletic teams at the school and to most of the citizens of this community. Before they won the first state championship in 2011, our school had never won a state championship in any sport. Six state championships in last three academic school years! I feel they would inspire all your listeners to be the BEST they can be, call them to excellence and give them the courage follow the dreams in their lives. Sounds BIG...because it is!
