We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have - TopicsExpress

We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further. And who was it that decided the one and only god that all must worship and believe in or else be considered an outcast? No, I cannot prove that there is no such thing as God, (though I think for the most part science has indeed done just that) any more than I can prove that there is not a purple teapot constantly circling a planet, a planet so far away to where no one can see it and therefore must be taken on faith that it is indeed out there, circling this unknown planet, and therefore, as a result, must be believed in since it cannot be disproven otherwise. Make sense? Does anything about religion make sense? I sincerely believe that our intrinsic need to believe in something out there greater and bigger than ourselves stems from our superstitious and fearful nature. Perhaps as we were evolving, first sprouting nub-like legs as we were crawling from the pond, some now-extinct beast of superiority lifted a leg and urinated on us, and from there on we were programmed to gaze up into the heavens, awaiting our next blessing.
