“We are all hypocrites. If we say that Filipino women have already attained equal status with men in our society and yet we patronize macho culture in TV, laugh at rape jokes, condone rapists and wife-beaters, shame victims, elect philanderers in public office, then we are all hypocrites,” says Commissioner Percival Cendaña of the National Youth Commission during the agency’s celebration of the International Women’s Month on March 7, 2014 titled “In Her Shoes: a Walk to End Gender-Based Violence and Injustice”.
