“We are all made of star stuff “The nitrogen in our blood, calcium in our teeth, the carbon in our apple pies were all made in the interiors of collapsing stars.” That’s what Carl Sagan said Fictional stories are beautiful, but what we really are is something no one can make up No one could write how are DNA is connected to the universe It’s something we can only learn Our hands are made of these beautiful lights I have the privilege to view every night in this midnight blue blanket above our heads We might just be an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star There are plenty more galaxies Many we know, and many we don’t Some that the most curious astronomers might not be meant to find But I do know this, stars are designed to shine It may not be what they’re entirely meant to do, but they still do it My body is a part of this universe My hands contain these collapsed blue, and red dwarf wonders I might not always create something as beautiful as them with my hands I can’t be an artist anymore I can’t use them to complete these complicated math equations I can’t use them to make a difference on the planet we currently inhabit But I can be other things A gentle lover A hand to hold A form of comfort I’m just the smallest star in one of many galaxies But a star might be the sun to someone else Some are not Some work their asses off to be viewed as a sun Some galaxies work with more than one sun Some become a sun by accident Others are only a sun to one person And to me That’s more than enough”
