We are all marching toward death. 500 years from now, it wont matter that I agonized over the loss of a loved one. What will matter is how those loved ones affected me while they were here and how I, in turn, affect those who I come into contact with and how those effects, even the small and seemingly insignificant ones, will live forever in an undying legacy. I believe our legacy is the only part of us we can be sure will live forever. If this is true, it means doing what is best for others is always more desirable than doing what feels good. The hard part is to actually live by these ideas.
