We are all saddened by the death of Matt Hoffman, Men’s Residential Counselor at De Paul, who died in his sleep on Sunday night. He will be missed by many. Here is a brief bio: Matt spent many years of his life in addiction and was given an opportunity to go to treatment in 2006. He didn’t succeed at first but returned in August of 2007 and had been clean ever since. Matt retired from the union in 2009 and began his education and career in the addiction field. Matt chose this field because of the impact made by those who helped him in treatment. He wanted to do the same for other men trying to change their lives. Matt married in 2010 and he and his wife became foster parents to an amazing little boy last year. He was in school at MHCC and planned to enroll at PSU this fall. Matt enjoyed the diversity of clients that come to De Paul and the opportunity to witness the changes these men make through the struggles of early recovery.
