We are at the hospital, just waiting for the trauma surgeon to come say goodbye to us before we head out into this beautiful May day! Tomo Thesamurai Tsurumi, you are amazing. Everyone who worked with you here at the hospital was awestruck by your survival, by the strength of your spirit and body, and your recovery speed. Thank you for being you, and thank you to my mother Owlcreek Cat, brother Travis Dee,dad Robert Painter, and kindred spirits Renee Liana, Jabin Noor-Jenny, Cynthia Valentine Zumba, Shelly Hearts Dance, Sheila Larson and Scotty Perey, who stood by us in the crucial first days when Tomo was in the ICU on life support, and to my friends and colleagues who brought food to our family, and are teaching my classes in my absence (with a special shout-out to Amy Costales, Claudia Holguin, and Kelley León Howarth). We couldnt have done it without you.
